This role will be a member of the Group Operating Effectiveness (GOE) Business Operational Readiness team reporting directly to the Business Operational Readiness Lead. The position will be engaged in Change Management strategies, Knowledge Management and Design strategies and execution, as well as Business Operational Readiness implementation activities. This role will work closely with the Communication Management team as well as the Knowledge Management team to ensure operational readiness needs are met. The role will be largely responsible for creating an environment of cross-cultural agility with stakeholders, matrix partners, peers, and staff that leverage ideas, best practices and talent in support of Group Benefit Solutions Programs and Projects.


This role will lead a small time-limited project or components of a larger project and directs one or more teams of business consultants involved in the evaluation of systems requirements and/or the development of new procedures/processes/ policy solutions to address complex business needs.





This role may also assess impact and implications from a cost, efficiency, contractual, legal and/or regulatory standpoint. Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team effectiveness. Collects and analyzes process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost. Uses best practices and knowledge to improve products or services. Solves complex problems. The role will be responsible to coordinate with other project managers. Position may work independently or may work in matrix partner and group settings, utilizing independent judgment and discretion within a business organization or across various functional area.


The role will monitor and facilitate development and implementation of operational readiness plans & execution for typical business activities required for development and expansion of Group Benefit Solutions Programs. Work with Business Operations and/or Managers to assist in definition of operational models required to support business functions during the lifecycle of any given project. Facilitate change management activities that will prepare the business for upcoming changes and the ability to manage and reinforce those changes. Identification and communication of operational risks, along with proposals to mitigate risk, assignment of risk owners and status of resolution. Ability to operate in an ever changing project environment—where priorities and unexpected needs shift work demand and focus.


  • Serve as Business Project Lead Analyst under the Group Operational Effectiveness team.  Candidate will be responsible and accountable for delivery of all project and analytical related functions as determined by the program.
  • Engage and cultivate ongoing working relationships with assigned business SMEs, business and IT partners to meet deliverables within cost, budget and time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively using multiple modes of communication.

  • Ensure project plans are documented, baselined and executed in conjunction with our IT and business partners.
  • Manage scope, time and costs established by the Program.  
  • May be responsible for coordinating requirements sessions to ensure adequate Business SME involvement and accuracy of results.
  • Responsible for partnering with the business to provide input to technical design so business interests are represented.
  • Accountable for ensuring sign-off of requirements from appropriate Business constituents.
  • Responsible for managing key business personnel in the Operational Readiness phases (e.g. Implementation, Training, Process/Workflow Documentation, Communication, Testing, etc.).
  • May require development and execution of training, documentation of requirements/workflows/SOPs, testing and other project-related deliverables.
  • May be responsible for ensuring business readiness for all release, deployment, and go-live activities including communication needs.
  • May be responsible for ensuing business preparedness for execution of all Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) phases
  • Accountable to validate production issues/break fixes are addressed and signed off prior to moving to production.
  • Provide input and recommendations for how to improve ongoing program deliverables.
  • Self-starter with excellent analytical and project management skills in a matrix organization.

  • Ability to understand the business objectives and technology as well as underlying data required to support needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Project Management skills desired.
  • 4+ years of relevant business operational or project life cycle work experience required.
  • 4+ years of experience with Group Products and knowledge of Disability, Absence, Life and Accident products required.
  • Experience developing specified business project scope and plans through execution required.     
  • Experience partnering with business leads and subject matter experts to drive results required.
  • Experience managing business and/or IT relationships in a matrixed environment required.
  • Cross-functional project experience with an emphasis on business and IT integration preferred.    
  • Experience gathering, documenting and signing off on business requirements throughout the business value chain required.
  • Experience with change management and business operational readiness preferred.
  • Prosci ® Change Management Certification preferred.
  • Experience managing resources and processes for the business operational readiness phases (training, SOPs, production implementation) of a project preferred.
  • Understanding of client and customer needs.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Possesses excellent skills in analytical reasoning.
  • Ability to identify and clarify issues and risks, escalating them as needed.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Flexibility to change course based on business needs and priorities.
