Team Leader is responsible for managing a team of 12 -15 Claim Managers whose key duties include managing disability claims anddelivering excellent customer service to our clients and customers. The Team Leader ensures that organizational goals are beingmet, their staff is delivering service at the highest level and their team is running at peak efficiency.


The Team Leader is responsible for managing the disability claims process for assigned accounts within a specified team. Thisincludes ensuring the team's achievement of specific customer service levels and metrics are in line with our Mission and valueproposition. A Team Leader must use independent thinking and discretion to review and resolve complex claim issues.
Manage team's claim performance according to published Quality and Compliance standards. Achieve overall quality review (NQITand TL/SCM reviews) within standard.
Provides individual and team based feedback and coaching to continuously improve and develop skills.

  • Utilize and proactively analyze various metrics reports to ensure consistent team and office performance. Identify areas ofopportunity and create plans for sustained improvement.
  • Ensure contingency plans are in place to achieve outcomes when challenges arise, such as staffing shortages, new business,system implementation, etc.
  • Is committed to meeting and exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers. Maintains exceptional customerrelations while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Partners with Account Management, Sales, and Director of Client Solutions to including attending client visits / finalistpresentations and responses to claim investigations / resolutions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of disability claim management experience preferred
  • Prior direct supervisor or management experience preferred
  • Ability to work with high sense of urgency
  • Bachelor degree preferred or applicable work experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Maintain professionalism and flexibility despite conflicting demands
  • Ability to prioritize critical objectives focusing on high impact components, demonstrate a mastery of Disability Claims Management, and the functional and technical knowledge and skills to perform the job
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet or exceed goals successfully while motivating staff towards desired outcomes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with all levels of the organization Encourage candor and openness to supportcreativity and an exchange of ideas
  • Effective at disseminating information for staff to successfully fulfill their duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to manage complex and escalated issues with confidence and results. Able to adapt to changing and often ambiguouscircumstances

Salary range: $55,000-$85,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
