Looking for a driven and effective team member to execute within our new New Business Underwriting Production Support team. This team will play a critical role in ensuring that Underwriting continues to exceed Client and Agent expectations for faster and more efficient service.  This will be achieved through system modernization and process improvements. The successful candidate will support this goal by addressing systems generated issues or defects, effectively resolve them, make recommendations to improve current processes and assist the Underwriting management, product owners and others within Underwriting to successfully process new life insurance applications.    Ultimately, the Production Support team member will help Underwriting run effectively, ensuring transparency and efficiency with its processes, finding solutions and collaborating across several business units.

 

This role involves triaging end user identified system issues to uncover a cause and a fix, communicate temporary workarounds to end users and provide direction to our technology partners.  Routine decisions on how to proceed are made by this individual without approval from management.  Knowledge of underwriting procedures, processes and systems are required in order to independently triage and resolve issues through close leadership and collaboration with Underwriting management, and technology to identify improvements and correct system defects.  The production support individual owns reporting tools for managing daily workflows, determining resolution turnaround time, drafting workaround recommendations and tracking trends.  Also, this individual is responsible to know the contents of system implementations, how these system changes impact the business operation and track fallout issues after system releases.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and Track end-to-end system issues through resolution
  • Triage daily system & policy specific production items and work toward resolution
  • Manage daily workflow per assignment  
  • Update procedures and workaround documents and communicate out to the Underwriting team
  • Review, analyze and monitor various daily performance reports and communicate to management
  • Lead collaborative discussions with Underwriting and its partners including Technology to effectively investigate, discuss, prioritize and resolve production system issues
  • Assist with system/product remediations
  • Communicate with end-users on status and resolution of incidents
  • Influence processing improvements based on observations, report data and trend analysis
  • Build, document, maintain and own production support processes and procedures
     

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Business discipline preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience familiar with the New York Life new business operating systems working with technology teams
  • Ability to work well under pressure , ability to multitask when needed and be comfortable working on several competing priorities
  • Meet deadlines and act with a sense of urgency
  • Self-starter with ability to be accountable for assignments
  • A focus on continuous improvement and pro-actively looking for opportunities to add value
  • Good analytics skills, critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 

 

Salary range: $47,500-$75,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
