The ideal candidate has a desire to work in the alternative investment management industry and gain exposure to private equity company underwriting. The associate will support the deal team in the sourcing, evaluation, and monitoring of direct private equity investments, working closely with senior investment professionals. The primary responsibilities include conducting industry research and company diligence, preparing transaction memos and underwriting reports, developing and evaluating financial models, and monitoring a portfolio of private equity co-investments. Candidates are able to gather, organize, and analyze data effectively and draw thoughtful and relevant conclusions based on their analysis of new transactions. The associate should demonstrate resourcefulness as well as an ability to work in a team-oriented culture and maintain open communication with team members. 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Sourcing and executing private equity co-investments
  • Support due diligence process by conducting industry research, preparing investment memorandums, and financial modeling
  • Monitoring existing co-investment portfolios, including quarterly reporting
  • Play a key role in database management and portfolio analytics initiatives
  • Assist senior IPs and BD/IR in capital formation and investor reporting materials
  • Be a resource for other parts of the Apogem Private Equity business in sourcing and underwriting investment opportunities
  • Support special project / ad hoc work streams as part of smaller working groups

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/BBA required
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience required
  • Prior investment banking, consulting, accounting (audit or transaction services), private equity, and/or co-investment experience is encouraged
  • Robust analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time and workload efficiently
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Some travel required

Overtime eligible: Exempt
