The NYL Direct IT CVP, Program Delivery & Governance will be responsible for the lean agile practice leadership team as well as our delivery governance practices and reporting of the NYL Direct business technology delivery.  As part of these responsibilities you will drive practice consistency across delivery of our 3 value streams technology execution.

This role will serve as a key partner for technology delivery teams, technology leadership, business value stream stakeholders and the Business Planning & Strategy team.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Lean Agile Delivery: Partner with Business Planning & Strategy team to maximize the flow of value through value streams coordination and portfolio planning.
  • Ensure Lean Governance: measure lean program, forecast & delivery dynamically, coordinate governance at program delivery level.
  • Produce Reporting/Metrics: track, report and provide insight on portfolio performance
  • Partner with Agile coach, Scrum Masters, & IT Leaders to evaluate existing agile delivery methods, techniques and proven alternatives.
  • Provide transparency into work, delivery constraints and risks throughout the execution of projects. (Ensuring appropriate governance practices throughout delivery lifecycle)
  • Adopt and lead the discipline of program management and building a team capable of leading the project execution of Portfolio and Program level projects.
  • Drive IT practice methodologies and define / maintain operating models to streamline governance, health monitoring and processes.
  • Responsible and accountable for results of agile leadership, governance and reporting teams consisting of Delivery Managers, Scrum Masters, Agile Coach, & RTE.
  • Ability to connect and adapt the full portfolio of work to company objectives and business plans.
  • Participate in governing practices within the Business Planning & Strategy Team and Corporate.
  • Build partnerships with key stakeholders, business and corporate partners as well as vendors.
  • Define and maintain department KPIs to provide benchmarking, improvement opportunities and reporting across IT delivery/services. (e.g. tracking of targeted business outcomes, Net Promoter Score, Cycle Time, Defect trends, Incident trends, etc.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7-10 years relevant experience in IT transformations and change management with a track record of success.
  • 7-10 years’ experience with Program/Project Management skills/working knowledge of the techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programs and resources
  • Familiar with SAFe Principals
  • Confident, self-motivated with experience coaching and/or training individuals
  • Solid IT background and consistently keep up-to-date with advancements in the field
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams fostering collaboration and team work
  • Drive the IT practices and initiatives within the IT organization
  • Strategic view of Workflow & Governance (quality and agile methodologies to streamline operations)
  • Experience building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, business, corporate partners and vendors
  • Experience working across different tool sets


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 7-10 years relevant project experience in Insurance/Financial Services with track record of success
  • Prior experience as an Agile Coach or as a key role in agile transformation efforts
  • SPC Certification
  • Experienced background in software development
  • Experienced background in Support Services
  • Skills in JIRA (or similar agile tools)
  • Six Sigma experience
