The Delivery Manager is responsible for the management, coordination, and implementation of programs and projects within the business and technical portfolios for the achievement of business objectives. This position integrates cross-functional groups into a cohesive program/project team to successfully deliver new business objectives. S/he will have accountability to coordinate related work across the delivery teams and partnering closely with other impacted teams to gain efficiencies.  This role implements projects within New York Life’s scaled agile framework, coordinates project activities with other New York Life business areas and Vendors,  executes projects on time and within budget, and ensures project goals are accomplished.

The Delivery Manager will play an active role in the continuous improvement of common processes, policies and tools across the technical delivery lifecycle to maintain a high-performing delivery focus across all technology delivery teams.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead projects in a transparent and productive way, applying delivery management practices.
  • Develops and manages deliverables (scope, schedule, budgets/estimates/forecasts, resource plans, priorities, dependencies, issues/risks/decisions, status, and quality) across the projects assigned.
  • Partner with respective business stakeholders to define & drive work, report regular status updates, and address issues/risks/dependencies/priorities.
  • Partner with Finance and Budget Coordinators to track and communicate financial performance of projects to ensure they are within budget and meet the cost benefit analysis.
  • Creatively solves problems during times of changing business priorities, requirements, design, and/or available technology resources.
  • Actively participates in end-to-end program and project management process continuous improvement, including: definition, implementation and consistent use of established program & project management practices, methodologies, standards, tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Helps to coordinate governance & lifecycle phase management activities for program/projects assigned.
  • Matrix manages project resources from other groups who are fulfilling roles in assigned projects.
  • Engages necessary resources for assigned project teams and reconciles accurate labor hours charged to projects.
  • Ensures project teams have capacity to execute scope of work.
  • Facilitate vendor contracts, statement of work agreements and relationships between Enterprise/Corporate Technology, Vendor and Information Technology to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and ensure suitable training plans are incorporated into technology rollout.
  • Establishes release plans and schedules pre-release meetings to ensure successful rollout of the project.
  • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.  This includes regular team updates for Information Technology project execution.
  • Facilitate the change management process within impacted business areas to enable business stakeholders and users to adopt and use a change.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills / Knowledge:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of program or complex project management experience leading technical projects, including development, execution, and delivery. Proven track record of driving delivery of complex work efforts.
  • Experience mobilizing teams and maintaining motivation to accomplish goals within timelines.
  • Ability to interact one-on-one and consult effectively with all levels of executive management.
  • Must be able to review and interpret data to make recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Familiar with requirements and system analysis.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with various technical development lifecycles such as waterfall, iterative, scrum, and kanban.
  • Working knowledge of process engineering methodologies.
  • Understanding of how to leverage business applications for competitive advantage.
  • Expertise in setting and managing stake holder expectations.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders with varying interests and facilitate consensus towards a solution.  Must have ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

Education / Training: 

 

  • A Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent experience.  Military experience may be considered equivalent
