Manager, Claims Operations
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
Role Overview:
As a Manager of Claims Operations, your primary responsibility will be to Lead a NYL Direct Life Claims team to ensure accurate, timely claim adjudication in compliance with regulations and company standards. You will provide coaching and development to staff, foster service excellence for insureds and beneficiaries, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and protect company interests.
What You’ll Do:
- Team Leadership and Development – Supervise, coach, and develop claims examiners to support professional growth and ensure high performance
- Claims Management – Oversee accurate and timely adjudication of life claims in compliance with NYL guidelines, state regulations, and service standards
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight – Ensure all claim practices adhere to regulatory requirements and protect the company’s interests
- Service Excellence – Maintain high-quality service delivery for insureds and beneficiaries by meeting established service standards
- Process & Productivity Improvement – Recommend and implement policies, procedures, and process enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce costs
What You’ll Bring:
You’re an experienced leader with a strong background in life insurance and have a deep understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements. You bring proven expertise in coaching and developing teams, ensuring accurate and timely adjudication of claims while maintaining high service standards for insureds and beneficiaries. You use strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, excel at handling escalations, remove barriers to resolution, and collaborate across departments. You are process-minded, can recommend and implement operational improvements that enhance efficiency, protect the company’s interests, and reduce costs while fostering a culture of growth and accountability.
Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of life insurance regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop associates to drive performance and career growth
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to oversee daily workflows and meet service standards
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-departmental issue resolution and team engagement
- Process improvement mindset with the ability to recommend and implement operational efficiencies
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with the Fineos claims platform
- Experienced user of AI and Gen AI tools
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $60,900-$92,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
