New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

 

Role Overview

 

  • Assist with the operational support of the LMS by loading and maintaining a variety of learning objects, courses, catalogs and Learning plans
  • Maintain and manage the scheduling and delivery of virtual classes in Adobe Connect or zoom, help capture learning metrics compile data to identify training effectiveness and ROI to the team
  • Identify, investigate and test new LMS features and existing capabilities, to ensure reliability and availability
  • Assist in building web-based learning solutions to help fill technology gaps and automate manual tasks, includes scheduling of virtual sessions, identification and validation of course
  • Help with the production of a variety of learning artifacts including video, audio recordings, assessments, micro-learnings and job aids
  • Triage, assess and resolve technical support issues and collaborate with other team members to problem-solve when needed
  • Train new/ existing team members on how to utilize the LMS and other learning technologies
  • Liaise with tech partners to research, pilot and deploy emerging technologies and relevant tools
  • Keep track of expiration dates for content, seek and acquire business owner approval on all courses prior to deployment
  • Continue to Improve NYL systems knowledge and perform support activities related to training
  • Help the team executing change management activities related to new feature roll outs and tools

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (concentration in computer science, information technology, instructional design, related field or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies
  • Experience with Adobe Connect and webinar platforms and best practices
  • Capable of leveraging authoring tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate Studio/Storyline, Camtasia, etc.)
  • Ability to code in HTML, JavaScript, and/or similar languages
  • Utilizes effective project management techniques to organize projects and to identify, track and estimate duration of project tasks
  • Working knowledge of learning management systems and virtual learning technologies, and their principles of operation
  • Basic understanding and experience leveraging Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to create processes, guidelines and similar documentation to support system development
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Familiar with email, collaboration & communication technologies (outlook, Microsoft teams)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent English language skills, written and spoken
