New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

 

Role Overview

  • Lead the enhancement and rollout of the Agency Mentoring program and drive strong adoption among our General Offices and significant results in terms of Agency's productivity
  • Drive the daily activities required to support our field managers and financial professionals in the General Offices, while looking for opportunities to continuously improve the program and test new approaches to drive bigger impact
  • Lead internal resources through the development and ongoing maintenance of collaterals and program management documents, meetings with leadership and other stakeholders, and program delivery resources to gather requirements, resource needs, and provide input on solution design; bring cross-functional teams together to work collaboratively towards a sustainable solution
  • Ensure that the program runs smoothly and on schedule, proactively identifying risk/issues and appropriately escalating concerns and potential solutions to impacted parties
  • Establish and enforce program delivery governance processes, communications plans, and cadence, including collection of regular program status reports for management and key stakeholders
  • Manage task execution and dependencies keeping the “big picture” in mind during meetings and discussions, particularly if there are scope and/or resource adjustments

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience, 7+ years of experience in financial services, preferably insurance
  • Outstanding communication skills, including experience in presenting and interacting with senior executives, such as our experienced financial professionals and experienced managers running sales offices
  • Collaborative work style and leadership presence with ability to effectively interact and earn trust of peers and senior management across the organization
  • Program management skills including proven ability to manage priorities effectively
  • Team management and development skills
  • Experience with owning and managing large programs, with high visibility
  • Experience with or good understanding of NYL Agency model, including the roles and responsibilities of our key General Office groups: Managing Partner, Partner, Development Manager, Financial Professional/Agent
  • Resourceful, self-starter with a passion to deliver results Superb communication and presentation skills
