New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 


Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.






  • Day-to-day administration of new disciplinary recommendations. This includes:
    • evaluating referrals submitted to web-based workflow system;
    • identifying violations;
    • requesting and managing relevant recommendations;
    • preparing bi-weekly reports for the Zones;
    • producing periodic report to the management of all pending disciplinary actions;
    • ensuring proper delivery and recordkeeping of the issued actions;
    • preparing and analyzing periodic reports to assess trends and pinpoint areas of possible concern or necessary focus.
  • Review of email communications of all agents who are subject to, or are in consideration for, Enhanced Supervision. This includes flagging, escalating of emails of concern, communicating the findings, ensuring appropriate actions are taken, resolving the issues and documenting the steps taken.
  • Organization and participation in periodic meetings with Zone Standards teams to facilitate timely receipt of required recommendations and delivery of actions.
  • Participation in review/investigations, typically arising from the underlying facts of disciplinary recommendations.
  • Providing Agency Standards Compliance Checks of agents and managers to business units who feature individuals for speaking roles or Company publications.
  • Participating in the discussion of Agent Enhanced Supervision (ES)/Enhanced Underwriting (EU)/Ethics Point (EP) complaint matters, and tracking/following up on any assigned matters for the appropriate committees.
  • Assisting Corporate Compliance Department in compiling/filing FINRA 3012 report on a quarterly basis
  • Participating in the agent investigations
  • Updating Select Agent list in the Company's Marketer system annually




  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses. If not currently licensed, obtaining these licenses will be required within 12 months of hire.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills and attention to detail are critical.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong familiarity with Company products and sales practice requirements/expectations.
  • Experience in compliance/supervisory areas a strong plus.
  • Strong technical skills (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Competence with web-based systems
