New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

 

 

Role Overview

 

  • Designs, develops, and oversees the Agent and Management curriculum:
  • Develop curriculum of blended learning content and sessions
  • Coordinates logistics with the National Training Center
  • Tracking & monitoring standing of candidates to enter training, remain in training program, and completion of leadership development assignments and assessments

 

  • Coordinates with other areas of Foundational Businesses:
  • Learning Tech, National Development, Prospecting, Recruiting, Cultural Markets
  • Marketing, Product, Compliance, Legal,
  • Field Managers and Agents
  • Zone Management and Zone Training teams

 

  • Oversees the selection, management and quality control of faculty
  • Internal speakers and senior leadership team engagement
  • Evaluation and selection of external competency content vendors and facilitators
  • Customization/Instructional Design of vendor content to meet NYL specific leadership challenges

 

  • Management of 6 people/2 directs, internal business partners and consultants

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Leadership Development, Organization Development, Instructional Design)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of instructional design tools such as Captivate and Storyline
  • Understanding of Web delivery platforms such as Zoom and Adobe Connect
  • Experience designing and implementing a broad, complex training and development curriculum (Experience with NYL Agency or similarly complex environment preferred)
  • Facilitation skills, public speaking
  • Learning Tech savvy in implementing needs of modern learner
  • Adult Learning practices - project management, instructional design, eLearning design, blended learning and flipped classroom philosophy, vendor sourcing and management
  • Training program evaluation and reporting
  • Experience in developing training or programs for a sales organization preferred
