New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 


Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.


Role Overview

The Corporate Vice President, Field Management Development & Training role is responsible for the coordination and support of the Field Development System and the New York Life Coaching framework.  This role will be heavily involved in planning for multiple agency meetings, for both Qualifying Agents and managers.


This role will work very closely with various business partners in our Home Office, planning on agent and manager development. This role requires creativity, strategic and conceptual thinking, detail-orientation, project management and execution skills, a commitment to results, and the ability to perform well and influence others in a matrix environment. 



  • Coordinates Rollouts and ongoing support of Field Development System
  • Assists in building future state of Manager Coaching Platform
  • Meeting planning for various National Meetings
  • Works closely with Development Manager Advisory Council (DMAC)
  • Ability to partner with other business areas in the organization. 
  • Coordinates with other areas of NYLIC University



  • BS/BA required
  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • Advanced degree or designation such as MBA, JD, CLU, ChFC strongly preferred
  • Background in Leadership and Management Development
  • Coaching and leadership experience 
  • Coaching certification or program completion
  • Project management expertise
  • Strong knowledge of NYLIC Field Development System
  • Facilitation skills, public speaking
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Ability to travel for various training or meetings
  • Knowledge of industry training practices
  • Detailed knowledge and/or practical experience with the NYLIC Career Agency System
  • Attention to detail 
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint
  • Ability to execute at a high, fast pace level




Salary range: $115,000-$175,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
