The Corporate Resilience Business Impact Analysis Lead is responsible for improving New York Life’s Corporate Resilience program by using industry knowledge to implement best practices for Business Impact Assessment methodology across the organization that align with Corporate Resilience Program goals. This person will be responsible for working with business stakeholders to develop, schedule, execute and gain executive approval for business impact assessment reports for all New York Life organizations. This individual will leverage industry knowledge and leading practices to drive implementation of business continuity plans and recovery capabilities supporting the enterprise’s resilience goals in close collaboration with other Corporate Resilience domains. Additionally, this individual provides expertise in support of continuous improvement of business continuity and recovery plans, process recovery strategies and playbooks. This role will develop metrics and reports that identify trends and improvement opportunities across the enterprise.
 

Responsibilities:
• Drive the development, socialization and implementation of the enterprise Business Impact Assessment (BIA) approach and strategy, methodologies and standards.
• Develop and refine plans, processes, tools, procedures and socialization materials that support successful implementation of BIA program requirements.
• Partner with business unit risk officers and business stakeholders in the planning, scheduling, and execution of the BIA and post-BIA assessments.
• Provide guidance and lead BIA meetings to help business stakeholders refine critical business processes and identify recovery time and point objectives (RTO/RPO), and related internal and external interdependencies and recovery strategies, including manual workarounds.
• Lead assessments of effectiveness of the overall BIA program, developing metrics and reports to determine overall business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident management effectiveness.
• Collaborate closely with Corporate Resilience and business partners and support related Corporate Resilience initiatives and integration of BIA results into business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident management related tasks.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Risk, or related fields
  • 5-10 years of experience 
  • Knowledge of key industry standards including, NIST, ISO, FFIEC, DRII, etc.; business continuity, disaster recovery, incident management, or risk management certifications desirable
  • Extensive experience in the development of BIA strategy, methodology, process, policies, standards, procedures, execution, management and training material artifacts
  •  Extensive BIA program coordination and execution experience
  •  Experience in assessing BIA requirements at the enterprise level through assessment of many organizational BIA reports
  • Experience in the Insurance or Financial Services industry, or related regulatory environment
  •  Knowledge of business continuity practices and related domains aligned to financial industries; preferably Insurance
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to function independently with limited direction
  • Ability to communicate complex information to business leaders to ensure they comprehend
