New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

 

Role Overview

• Field inbound calls from Agents, Field Managers and Product Consultants regarding the technical aspects of the suite of Annuity products including Fixed Annuities, Income Annuities, Variable Annuities and MainStay Mutual Funds for both current products sold and inforce policies/contracts.

• Identify sales opportunities and promote the sale of New York Life Annuities and MainStay Mutual Funds.

• Assist Agents in the sales process by providing product knowledge, hypothetical illustrations and current sales promotions to close the case.

• Pass leads to the Internal Investment Sales Desk.

• Use Morningstar and CDS Thomson software to provide hypothetical and competitive research to Agents.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

• Minimum 2 years relevant experience.

• FINRA Series 6 and 63 or Series 7, Life and Health license required or the ability to attain licenses within 90 days.

• Continually learning new products and staying abreast of product and market.

• Needs the ability to generate Internal Wholesaler lead generation.

• Creates and explains complex illustrations based on product and market knowledge.

• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Morningstar, NYLIS Illustration System, Asset Allocation Tool, Social Security Analyzer, Client Analysis Tool, Agency Portal, Salesforce, Portal Contact System and Rightbridge.

 

Series 6 and Series 7 registrations are required – the Security Industry Essentials Exam is a registration pre-requisite as of October 1, 2018
