This Manager position will report directly to the Head of Group Membership Association’s Compliance Unit in White Plains, NY and manage the operational and compliance oversight of Third Party Administrators (TPAs) that administer Employer Group Short/Long Term Disability, Life, AD&D, HIP, Long Term Care and Statutory Disability insurance on behalf of one of New York Life’s subsidiaries.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Manage and develop strategy for TPA Oversight Program, which includes annual planning of TPA inhouse and onsite reviews at administrator offices, overseeing the reviews performed by other staff members, and clearly presenting results to internal Senior Management
     
  • Manage and perform Third Party Administrator (TPA) oversight reviews, including planning the review, interviewing TPA personnel to understand key risks and controls within processes, developing review steps to evaluate controls over key risks, selecting samples and testing transactions, documenting, summarizing and communicating observations/issues to TPA, negotiating,  and following-up on remediation plans 
     
  • Handle and address daily administrative and regulatory issues and inquiries from TPAs, NYL Risk Management, NYL Corporate Compliance, NYL Corporate Audit, and NYL Office of General Counsel
     
  • Lead, coach, train and develop of other staff members

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
     
  • 10 plus years of operational or auditing experience in Disability and Life insurance administration (application processing, underwriting, policy issuance, premium billing/collection, claims processing, inforce policy services)
     
  • Strong knowledge and broad understanding of insurance principles, employer group life and disability insurance best practices, and regulatory requirements
     
  • Flexible self-starter, detail and results oriented, analytical, and an innovative thinker with sound judgement to problem solve unique and complex situations
     
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
