New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

 

Responsibilities

• Create and implement development programs for all internal Sales Desk teams (life insurance, annuity/investments, long term care, and worksite)

• Develop and maintain engaging curriculum for new hires and established team members                              

• Observe and analyze teams for deficiencies and opportunities for improvement; recommend, develop, and implement training programs, tools, and initiatives to drive improvements                                                                                  

• Responsible for creation, content, and delivery of monthly Lunch and Learn program 

• Create PowerPoint presentations for various sales teams as necessary                                                                                                               

• Manage "Product Consultant University" educational program for those interested in a future external role

• Leverage resources not only within New York Life but also external in order to provide top notch development

• Work closely with Sales Desk Management to monitor calls and conduct quality control of sales language and interaction with agents on the phone 

• Create content for Monthly Desk meetings; handle scheduling and other administrative responsibilities for organizational meetings                                                                                                                   

• Mange compliance monitoring-wholesaler interview forms, appropriate licensing, sales material review, and quarterly reporting   

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Life insurance, annuity, investments and long-term care product knowledge required
  • Working knowledge and strong comfort level leveraging technology such as CRM system, webinars/electronic presentation platforms
  • Ability to implement new techniques to improve efficiencies, sales language and drive sales
  • Ability to work with different areas to coordinate in a cross-functional fashion
