This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

 

The Senior Associate of expense reporting will be responsible for all operational expense performance and reporting.  This includes preparation and analysis of departmental expense and staffing reports, allocated expense review, overhead analysis and technology fixed asset reporting related to the Group Membership Association line of business. The senior associate oversees quarterly and annual statutory and management reporting, delagation of authority payment rights, and will be responsible for coordination of the team's process improvements and efficiencies.

 

  • Develops, monitors, and reports quarterly and annual departmental expense reporting and staffing analysis, comparing actual experience to plan with identification of variance drivers, in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines. 
  • Participates in annual planning process, compiles budgets & staffing from various areas in Group Membership.            
  • Responsible for various quarterly and annual statement reports exhibits and notes for inclusion in the New York Life Annual Statement. 
  • Development of multi-year expense reporting plan, which is reported to senior management.                                                                                                                              
  • Performs month-end reconciliation of general ledger accounts and follows-up on outstanding items.                    
  • Prepares expense journal entries into SAP including fixed asset journal entries and the associated reporting related to technology projects. 
  • Assists with delegation of authority updates. 
  • Manages reporting of various initiatives to improve, streamline and make processes more effective and efficient.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • 5+ years' related experience required.
  • Requires strong technical skills with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Access) and SAP.  
  • Experience with Anaplan and/or Tableau is a plus.
  • Ability to perform in depth analysis of the expense transactions.
  • Ability to assist with planning process and expense reporting preparation.  
  • Ability to review current processes to target automation and streamline opportunites and has worked to enact these procedures into the day to day operations.
  • Ability to coordinate and work symbiotically with the entire finance staff to produce timely expense and management reporting and planning.  
  • Requires intense multi-tasking and the ability to properly manage the existing resources to meet strict and aggressive deadlines.

Salary range: $90,000-$135,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
