New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 


Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds



Role Overview:

  • Work with Home Office, Zone Recruiting and Sales and Marketing departments and field managers to develop South Asian Market recruiting development strategies, plans and initiatives.
  • Organize and implement nominating, CI, Recruiting and Candidate engagement activities.
  • Develop relationships with agents and management teams across the South Asian focus GOs and with community leaders, Centers of Influence, and organizations to consistently introduce NYL to the community and vice-versa.
  • Plan and implement recruiting events that lead to warm-source candidates.
  • Coordinate events and sponsorships. Analyze event organization; organize sponsorship with field management and agents.
  • Familiarize with recruiting and sales tools available with the South Asian Market and help field force leverage the tools.


* Position requires extensive domestic travel




  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Two years or more experience in recruiting and sales development. Another two or more years as a life insurance agent preferred.
  • Licensed in life, health is preferred
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Sound working knowledge of HTML, Flash, Adobe InDesign/Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Quark
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and writing skills in English, Hindi and other South Asian languages preferred
  • Strong skills in organizing and coordinating projects
