Role Overview:

  • New York Life is seeking a Strategy & Product Senior Associate to advance the Group Membership Association Department’s (GMAD) expanding portfolio of insurance solutions. You will assist in advancing GMAD’s 3–5 year strategic vision to diversify into new markets and deepen engagement within existing ones. This will be achieved through the introduction of innovative products and the enhancement of current offerings tailored to professional associations and affinity groups. You will play a critical part in the strategic design, positioning, and execution of new and existing products across life, disability, accident & health, and supplemental health lines. 

  • Reporting to the Corporate Vice President of Product Development, this individual will operate as both a product strategist and cross-functional program lead. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in insurance product development, experience shaping roadmap strategy, and a proven ability to execute with discipline in a highly matrixed environment. 

What You'll Do:

Strategic Product Leadership 

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of GMAD’s multi-year product strategy, informed by market trends, competitive intelligence, and internal capabilities. 

  • Identify and evaluate white space opportunities and unmet needs within group association, and affinity markets. 

  • Develop and refine business cases for new product concepts, enhancements, and go-to-market strategies. 

  • Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, and finance to model product impact, assess viability, and ensure pricing integrity. 

Cross-Functional Execution 

  • Lead and support enterprise-wide product initiatives from ideation through implementation—engaging stakeholders across Legal (OGC), Compliance, Marketing, Service, and Account Management. 

  • Own development of key deliverables such as product requirement documents, milestone plans, and presentations. 

  • Drive alignment on product scope, launch readiness, and post-launch monitoring across teams. 

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement 

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on GMAD products, providing strategic counsel to senior leadership and internal business partners. 

  • Create and present executive-level updates and product briefing materials for committees, senior leadership, and external partner review boards. 

  • Support internal/external relationships with high-level product knowledge. 

Market Intelligence & Optimization 

  • Conduct competitive analysis and market scans to inform product differentiation, pricing strategy, and value proposition development. 

  • Champion a culture of data-driven decision making, continuous learning, and operational efficiency within the product function. 

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with emphasis on strategy and product development. Direct insurance industry experience desired. 

  • Familiarity with some or all insurance products offered by GMAD, including Life, Disability, Accident & Health, and Supplemental Health. 

  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Analytical mindset and strategic thinker. 

  • Executive presence and strong communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 

This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
