Apogem Capital is hiring an experienced Assistant Vice President / Vice President of Strategy to support the execution of its business growth strategy and integration initiatives. This position will report to the Head of Strategy. This role will entail providing support to Apogem’s Senior Leadership Team to help define business strategy and support the execution of strategic initiatives, business planning, and project management across private equity and private credit businesses. This position requires experience in asset management with exposure to technology, operations and AI/data strategies within the alternatives investment sector, a strategic mindset, financial modeling capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively across business functions.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

Strategy Development

 

  • Analyze market insights in the alternatives investment sector and competitor information to identify trends, product gaps and opportunities for growth
  • Develop and maintain perspective on strategic implications of key developments in the industry – new products, competitor actions, regulatory changes etc.
  • Support new product development and inorganic growth through evaluation of potential M&A and/or partnership opportunities; Perform business impact assessments and develop financial models for cost benefit analysis

Strategy Execution

 

  • Support competitive benchmarking to evolve existing product solutions in terms of pricing, fund structure etc.
  • Work with Apogem’s front, middle and back-office leaders to execute selected cross-functional strategic initiatives (e.g., support transition to new fund administrator, new fund launches, target operating model design)
  • Manage and plan business activities and resources required to deliver strategic solutions, including defining business requirements and ensuring key stakeholders are managing cross-functional dependencies, timelines, and execution milestones

Strategy Communication

 

  • Support annual strategic planning process to articulate business priorities and ensure key strategic initiatives are appropriately communicated across the firm and NYLIM
  • Prepare presentations for Board updates, Town Hall meetings etc.

Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred with a strong record of academic achievement
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of overall experience, 3+ years in top-tier asset management and/or management consulting firm
  • Good understanding of the asset management industry, products, regulatory guidelines, and headwinds impacting the alternatives investment sector
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strategic and creative thinking aptitude
  • Attention to detail and strong project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously with consistent follow-through
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences across various levels of seniority
  • Requires strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to partner effectively across multiple functions and levels of management
  • Personally, and professionally aligned with Apogem’s culture and values, and a strong interest in the asset management industry
  • Advanced user of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and skilled at financial modeling / data analytics to develop CBAs, cost-to-achieve / cost-to-operate models, business reports and presentations
  • Willing to travel 10-15% of time

 

 

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $150,000-$185,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
