Field Experience - Competition & Benchmarking Lead
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
Role Overview:

By aligning training, compensation, onboarding, productivity, and field strategy, the Field Experience value stream provides the capabilities needed to attract, retain, and empower the best agents and advisors in the industry.
The Competition & Benchmarking Strategist provides external perspective to inform FX strategy by delivering deep insights into competitor practices, industry trends, and best-in-class advisor experiences. This role ensures leadership decisions are grounded in a clear understanding of how New York Life compares to peers and where differentiation, parity, or leapfrogging opportunities exist. The role bridges external insight and internal action. The role combines research, analysis, and storytelling to translate external insights into actionable strategic implications.
What You''ll Do:
Competitive Intelligence
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive view of the competitive landscape across advisor platforms, tools, compensation, supervision, and operating models.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments that may impact advisor experience.
Benchmarking & Best Practices
• Lead structured benchmarking efforts against industry peers and adjacent best-in-class organizations.
• Identify performance gaps and leading practices relevant to FX priorities.
• Contextualize findings to NYL’s distribution model and strategy.
Strategic Insight Translation
• Translate external insights into clear implications for FX strategy, roadmap prioritization, and capability investment.
• Support executive briefings, strategy narratives, and business cases with data-backed insights.
• Partner with strategy and product leaders to inform investment decisions.
What You'll Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree a plus
• 5–7+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, market intelligence, or financial services
• Strong research, analytical, and synthesis skills
• Ability to translate complex findings into clear executive narratives
• Strong communication skills including experience in developing executive level presentations
• Collaborative work style and leadership presence with ability to effectively interact and earn trust of peers and senior management across the organization
• Project management skills including proven ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time
• Self-starter with a passion to deliver results

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $119,000-$170,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
