Senior Associate - Data Analyst
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
Role Overview
This role supports New York Life’s Life Insurance technology ecosystem by translating complex business needs into well-governed, scalable data models. The position partners closely with business, underwriting, and technology stakeholders to ensure Life Insurance products, processes, and data are accurately represented across systems, enabling reliable analytics, integration, and modernization initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with Life Insurance business and technology teams to understand products, riders, and New Business processes and translate requirements into data models
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Life Insurance applications
- Apply canonical data modeling techniques to support both relational and non-relational data platforms
- Translate business terminology and requirements into clear, consistent data structures
- Ensure data models align with Data Governance standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to explain data concepts and model designs to non-technical stakeholders
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience working in Life Insurance organizations, preferably supporting the U.S. market
- Strong understanding of Life Insurance products, riders, and New Business processes
- Working knowledge of Life Insurance business terminology
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable and reusable data structures
- Familiarity with data governance principles and standards
Required Skills
- Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Life Insurance applications
- Strong SQL skills to research and analyze existing data models
- Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks
- Solid understanding of canonical data modeling techniques across relational and non-relational systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills when working with complex data sets
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with ACORD standards
- Experience applying Data Governance standards and guidelines
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working across cross-functional teams
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $100,000-$143,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
