Financial Accounting, Senior Associate
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
As part of New York Life’s Group Membership Association Division, you'll be working with the nation’s No. 1 provider of life and disability income insurance solutions for association/affinity programs. Role Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and managing complex financial models and reports that support New York Life’s Annual Statement and quarterly/year-end financial processes. You will ensure accurate recording of transactions on the ledger, oversee sales reporting and analysis, and manage cash flow reporting critical for treasury forecasting. Additionally, you will handle claims accounting issues and approvals, providing essential data to internal departments and external stakeholders. Your work will directly impact financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and senior management decision-making through timely and detailed reporting.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare Annual Statement Exhibits and Notes in compliance with corporate standards for inclusion in the New York Life Annual Statement.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models related to sales, revenue, value of new business, and capital usage.
- Oversee sales reporting for Group Membership Association, including analysis, trending, and reporting to LIMRA.
- Manage monthly cash flow reports to support treasury forecasting and asset purchase/sale decisions.
- Resolve claims accounting issues and approve daily claims releases from Third Party Administrators and Life and Claims Units.
What You'll Bring:
- Strong experience in financial reporting and preparation of regulatory statements.
- Proficiency in building and managing complex financial models.
- Analytical skills to perform sales trending and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of claims accounting processes and general ledger transaction recording.
- Ability to prepare detailed schedules and supporting documentation for quarter-end and year-end close.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with tax, controllers, treasury, and senior management teams.
- Experience working with LIMRA reporting standards and requirements.
- Familiarity with treasury forecasting and cash flow management.
- Background in insurance or financial services industry accounting.
- Advanced Excel and financial software proficiency.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
