Associate - Tax Transformation
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
Business Unit Overview
Join Corporate Finance where expertise meets strategic impact. Partner with diverse business units, providing financial insights and guiding sound decision-making. You'll work collaboratively to ensure data accuracy, implement robust controls and safeguard policy owners’ interests. Become part of a team dedicated to financial stewardship, enabling business performance and paving the way for a secure future for generations to come.
Role Overview:
As a Tax Transformation Associate, you will play a key role in advancing the Tax Department's technology and process modernization efforts within the Controllers organization. Reporting to the CVP of Tax Transformation, you will support initiatives to standardize, consolidate, and automate Tax workflows, thereby helping to build a more scalable and sustainable operating model. This role sits at the intersection of Tax operations and technology, requiring you to understand business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to solutions that are built for reuse and long-term governance. You will collaborate across Tax functions as well as with Enterprise Technology, Finance Systems, and broader Controllers transformation programs to ensure Tax technology needs are clearly represented and effectively addressed.
What You’ll Do:
As a member of the Tax Transformation team, your primary focus will be supporting the modernization of Tax technology, processes, and workflows across the department. In addition, you will:
- Administer and optimize core Tax systems including Corptax, BNA Fixed Assets, Thomson Reuters, and Indirect Tax platforms.
- Support the evaluation of Tax technology tools and workflows for opportunities to consolidate, standardize, and modernize.
- Contribute to process standardization efforts across Tax functions, such as documenting current-state workflows and supporting the design of scalable improvements.
- Support automation initiatives using enterprise-supported tools (e.g., Power Platform, Power Query), with an emphasis on standardization as a foundation for automation.
- Assist in coordinating with Enterprise Technology, Finance Systems, and Controllers transformation programs on Tax technology needs.
- Help translate Tax business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring solutions are built for reuse and governance.
- Maintain Tax Department IT controls and support compliance with internal governance standards.
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed, including collaboration with external consultants.
What You’ll Bring:
You will bring a foundational understanding of tax technology and operations, combined with practical comfort working with data tools and enterprise systems. Beyond your technical skillset, you can communicate effectively across both business and technical teams by asking the right questions, surfacing issues early, and translating between Tax subject matter experts and technology partners. You are someone who thrives in environments where processes are being built and improved, not just maintained. A willingness to learn quickly and contribute to a transformation-oriented team is just as important as any individual technical skill.
Required Skills:
- 2–3 years of experience in tax technology, tax operations, or a related finance technology role.
- BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems required.
- Strong Excel proficiency.
- Ability to work through analytics tools, e.g., Power Query, Power BI, or similar data tools.
- Experience contributing to process improvement or standardization initiatives.
- Effective communicator across business and technical teams; comfortable asking questions and surfacing issues.
- Eager to learn and grow within a transformation-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- MS, MBA, or relevant certification.
- Familiar with major LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
- Insurance or financial services experience.
