The FP&A lead provides financial support for the strategic and tactical needs of the Strategic Insurance Businesses (SIBs) and is responsible for the management communication of quarterly financial results, the multi-year plan, and capital projections. The SIBs comprise of six diversified businesses that generate important strategic and financial benefits for New York Life.


The role plays an integral role as finance partner to each respective strategic business, and additionally requires close coordination and collaboration with the broader finance community.



  • Effectively coordinate and manage the calendar, deliverables, and expectations for the 6 strategic businesses in support of quarterly financial reporting, multi-year financial planning and capital projections
  • Assess the drivers of quarterly financial results across the businesses and develop insightful reports that effectively communicate the financial story to senior leadership through analytics, trends, and commentary
  • Provide a critical eye on the financial plan, assessing its viability and identifying potential risks and opportunities
  • Enhance the reporting of key metrics that quantify the trajectory of business and product performance and capture the achievement of strategic goals. Streamline data by developing a central data repository for relevant financial information
  • Address ad-hoc financial requests from various stakeholders, while also proactively identifying areas to perform SIB portfolio level analysis that is insightful and actionable
  • Manage and monitor metrics supporting the Seguros Monterrey and GBS scorecards; coordinate and prepare materials for the Compensation Committee in determining business-level incentive compensation



  • Strategic thinker able to pull the big picture from the detail
  • Ability to multi-task with shifting priorities, with a strong sense of urgency under tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders with different backgrounds and at executive levels
  • Experience with company financial reporting including knowledge of accounting and actuarial concepts, a plus
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within finance and across the organization
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience, preferably with a FP&A focus and/or in the insurance industry    
  • BS in Finance, Accounting or Actuarial preferred




Salary range: $115,000-$175,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
