Corporate Vice President, Compensation Modeling & AI

Role Overview: 

 

The Corporate Vice President is a strategic leader within the Compensation Operations team responsible for advancing the design, modeling, and modernization of New York Life's field compensation programs. This role will lead the development of sophisticated compensation models, leveraging actuarial principles, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and data science techniques to evaluate, optimize, and recommend compensation strategies that align with business objectives.

Working closely with senior leaders across Compensation Strategy, Distribution, Finance, Technology, Data & Analytics, and Field Leadership, this individual will develop analytical frameworks that evaluate plan effectiveness, model behavioral outcomes, and inform executive decision-making. The role will also partner with Compensation Operations and Technology teams to ensure approved designs can be successfully implemented within the Varicent Incentive Compensation Management platform.

This position serves as the analytical center of excellence for compensation plan design, balancing financial performance, sales behavior, competitiveness, and operational feasibility.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

Lead the design and advanced analytical modeling of field compensation plans and other Field Experience needs.

Develop predictive compensation models to evaluate financial impact, participant behavior, sales outcomes, and organizational performance.

Apply actuarial methods, statistical analysis, machine learning, and AI-enabled modeling techniques to improve compensation design and decision making.

Build simulation models that evaluate proposed compensation changes under multiple business scenarios and economic assumptions.

Translate complex business challenges into quantitative models that support strategic compensation recommendations.

Collaborate with Compensation Operations and Technology teams to ensure compensation designs can be effectively operationalized within the Varicent platform.

Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and advanced analytics technologies to improve compensation design, forecasting, and operational efficiency.

Lead compensation analytics supporting executive presentations, governance committees, and strategic planning initiatives.

Assist in develop key performance indicators and dashboards measuring compensation plan effectiveness and participant outcomes.

Mentor analysts and business partners in analytical methodologies, modeling techniques, and data-driven decision making.

Support enterprise modernization initiatives focused on automation, AI adoption, and next-generation compensation capabilities.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

Required Skills:

· Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline.

· 8–12 years of progressive experience in compensation strategy, actuarial science, predictive analytics, financial modeling, or quantitative business analysis.

· Demonstrated experience developing sophisticated financial or behavioral models supporting strategic business decisions.

· Strong understanding of incentive compensation principles, sales performance measurement, or behavioral economics.

· Advanced analytical capabilities including statistical modeling, scenario analysis, forecasting, and optimization techniques.

· Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools to improve business modeling, forecasting, or decision support.

· Advanced proficiency with Excel and analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, MATLAB, or equivalent quantitative platforms.

· Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to explain complex analytical findings to non-technical audiences.

· Strong business acumen with the ability to balance financial objectives, participant behavior, and operational considerations.

· Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional initiatives involving business, finance, and technology partners.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

· Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (FSA/ASA) or equivalent actuarial credential.

· MBA or advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, or related field.

· Experience designing or evaluating sales compensation programs within financial services, insurance, wealth management, or related industries.

· Familiarity with Varicent Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) or comparable incentive compensation platforms.

· Experience developing AI-enabled forecasting, optimization, or simulation models.

· Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

· Knowledge of cloud-based analytics platforms and modern data architecture.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $119,000-$165,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
