New York Life is hiring a Corporate Vice President, Financial Wellness, Activation and Engagement Leader to help drive awareness, spur engagement and usage, and coordinate outreach to key internal and external stakeholders in service of New York Life’s Financial Wellness Capability.


The ideal candidate will have prior experience helping to shape group benefits’ (employer and employee) user experience by leading engagement strategy and execution. He/She/They will have demonstrated success converting product/program/service features into benefits that resonate with stakeholders, leading with need and laddering to outcomes. The successful candidate will also have experience weaving incumbent, vendor and partner solutions into a plan’s existing group benefits ecosystem to amplify the value of plan benefits (whole is greater than the sum of its parts). Finally, this leader will have demonstrated proficiency in identifying relevant key metrics and measuring both engagement and outcomes to continuously improve performance and facilitate better individual and organizational financial health.


Role Description:

Strategic execution:

  • Lead Financial Wellness user (employer and employee) engagement; develop a strategy that successfully weaves vendor, partner and NYL capabilities, ladders from need to solution to outcome, and helps to uncover and optimize positioning to materially drive engagement; partner to establish the baseline journey map.
  • Act as the primary financial wellness engagement point of contact for internal (e.g., product, agency, marketing) and external (e.g., employers, employees) stakeholders; coordinate across work and value streams were applicable to ensure alignment; build and maintain a baseline engagement roadmap.
  • Partner with brokers, plans to customize engagement; maximize the value of employer sponsored benefits; work across the Financial Wellness, Group Benefits and Marketing organizations to facilitate deployment; develop and maintain an ideas backlog to fuel innovation; co-create test & learn scenarios for use in market with the potential to scale pending results.
  • Co-develop success metrics, reporting and measurement of outcomes.
  • Work with a small, dynamic and high-performing team to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization effectively.



Organizational and Operating Discipline:

  • Is well-versed in unmet consumer, employer and broker needs and can quickly translate how fulfilling that need (e.g., paying down debt) can allow an individual to redeploy savings towards additional life and financial goals (e.g., redeploying funds formerly put towards debt to help build emergency savings).
  • Is a strong communicator and marketer with omnichannel expertise in the group benefits, insurance, retirement and/or financial services space.
  • Is a strong connector (people, concepts, applications); able to translate complex concepts simply and distill key features into benefits that bring “what’s in it for me” to life for an array of stakeholders.
  • Is a demonstrated systems thinker; able to quickly think through implications and adapt positioning for a wide array of users and audiences.
  • Is able to toggle between strategic considerations and tactical implications, helping to deliver the approach and execute to create specific deliverables.


Leadership support:

  • Partner across NYL (Foundational Business and Group Benefits Solutions) to co-develop a holistic engagement strategy and tactical execution plan that reinforces the value of group benefits while optimizing engagement and use of financial wellness capabilities (internal NYL, vendor and partner) in a cohesive and compelling way; unpack moments that matter including, but not limited to new employee onboarding, open enrollment, key life events.
  • Shape vendor/partner engagement and experience roadmaps in ways that complement NYL’s Financial Wellness capability; ensure alignment against key business outcomes (e.g., new sales, stickiness); help facilitate material improvements in individual and organizational financial health.
  • Partner to drive content development and implement feedback mechanisms for tracking, reporting and enhancement; keep stakeholders proactively apprised.
  • Anticipate stakeholder enablers and service/experience issues; work across the organization to mitigate issues/facilitate resolution; manage and enforce SLAs.


You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in the financial wellness, group benefits, insurance, retirement and/or benefits consulting space (financial services a strong plus)
  • 5+ years driving engagement in an omnichannel environment (financial services or financial wellness experience a strong plus)
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills (strategy, tactical delivery, public speaking); ability to distill complex ideas simply; ability to interact successfully with leaders at all levels
  • Agile, self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines while navigating the ambiguity of a dynamic work environment
  • Collaborative work style and leadership presence coupled with the ability to effectively interact and earn the trust of colleagues and senior management across the organization
