Employee Relations - Senior Associate
Job Function
The Employee Relations, Senior Associate will join a team responsible for providing guidance on and directly handling employee relations matters with a focus on balancing business need and organizational risk, assisting in the design of employee related policies that are compliant with the law and align to best practices, managing complaints, and cultivating a positive and productive work environment. In addition, the team provides support to the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) in issues involving employee complaints, leaves and accommodations, discipline, terminations, and job eliminations. This is a hybrid role with the expectations of working from home on Mon & Fri and being in the office on Tues, Weds and Thurs.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Provide consultative expertise for routine employee relations matters.
- Assist in responding to and investigating employee complaints submitted directly to HR or through the Company’s Ethics Hotline.
- Partner with Leave Coordinators and HRBPs on leaves and accommodations issues.
- Work with HRBPs and Legal department on discipline and termination issues.
- Serve as the expert on our case management tool. Includes ensuring cases are entered in a timely manner, preparing quarterly reports for compliance, training the HRBPs on the system and managing the relationship with the vendor.
- Serve as the records coordinator for Employee Relations.
- Calculate severance payments for job eliminations and work with Legal and Benefits to prepare packages for notification discussions.
- Design and enhance employee related policies that are compliant with federal, state, and local laws. Update the Employee Handbook as needed.
- Act as key point person to respond to policy questions, provide clarification on ER processes, and communicate policy updates to the appropriate audience.
- Assist with the development and facilitation of ER-related training.
- Handle special projects as needed.
Qualifications Required
- Strong knowledge and facility for interpreting and communicating employment laws and HR policy
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify needs/issues quickly
- Detail oriented with very strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as a valuable partner with all levels of management
- Strong relationship building skills and collaborative style
- Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and competing deadlines
Ideal Candidates Should Have:
- At least four years’ experience working in Employee Relations or Employment Law.
- Strong knowledge of employment law (EEO, FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- Experience or willingness to participate in and/or handle investigations, with an emphasis on workplace complaints
- Experience developing and writing HR policy
- Bachelors degree required, JD or Masters a plus; degree with a concentration in Human Resources Management or similar concentration is preferred
- Strong PC skills

Salary range: $72,500-$96,500
