This position could be based in the following alternate locations: Cleveland, OH (Ohio); Dallas, TX (Texas); New York, NY (New York). 


Working under the team manager, the Senior Specialist in the Legal Attachment team will be responsible for reviewing, processing and resolving matters related to investigation and research of intermediary to complex legal orders and settlement agreements for both New York Life clients and agents. The position is expected to support the area with documentation, testing, training, and assist with reviewing quality assurance pertaining to the garnishment process for both clients and agents.


The role requires the general understanding of the Liens and Garnishment process and candidate must be detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills. The Senior Specialist is expected to assure all protocols are followed through the appropriate channels and timeframe while taking quality measures into account when handling legal orders. In addition, the Senior Specialist will participate in projects and assignments within the area and division.



  • Investigate, research and resolve medium to complex inquiries from agents, policy owners and outside entities.
  • Handle the department phone line and provide solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Work closely with NYL compliance and legal departments for resolutions on cases as well as assist team members with new rulings from the Office of the General Council and Compliance department.
  • Assist Monitoring the daily log and trends to investigate unusual activities.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by management, such as legal and compliance projects.



  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1+ years of Legal experience working with garnishment process strongly preferred; able to read and understand court documents and orders a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access and SharePoint) and ability to utilize for process efficiencies.
  • General understanding of business operations and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices.
