Role Overview:

 

The Learning and Development Lead is responsible for the strategy development and execution of all distribution specific learning programs. These programs encompass the onboarding of new hires, the ongoing support and training needed to upskill and inform our teams, and the development of our leadership teams. The Distribution Learning and Development Lead is responsible for curriculum development, facilitation, ongoing maintenance of training programs, monitoring and measuring learner performance. This role is responsible for our team’s ability to stay current and relevant in market to drive performance results. 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Leads the team managing and delivering Distribution role-specific onboarding and on-going training.  Creating effective onboarding processes for new sales employees to ensure they quickly acclimate to the company culture, understand product offerings, and learn sales processes.
  • Leads the team managing and delivering Distribution ongoing development and reinforcement training tailored to the needs of the sales team, covering topics such as product and solution knowledge, sales techniques, and customer relationship management
  • Leader must also be able to develop content, facilitate, and drive work product seamlessly moving between leadership and delivery
  • Conducting assessments to identify skill gaps and training needs within the sales team, using surveys, performance metrics, and feedback from sales leaders.
  • Working closely with sales leadership and other departments to align training initiatives with business objectives and ensure that training content is relevant and timely.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, sales methodologies, and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices into training programs.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous learning within the sales team, encouraging professional development, and recognizing achievements.
  • Manages all Distribution training program content and knowledge.
  • Supports the Continuous Improvement of learning curriculum for consistent alignment to NYL GBS Strategy and increased learner success.
  • Partners with GBS Learning and Knowledge Management Center of Excellence for tools, resources, and guidance, providing feedback and input.
  • Acts as a change advocate by introducing, embracing, and managing change.
  • Manages time and resources, effectively prioritizing work.  
  • Responsible for coaching team performance and keeping technical skills updated, including the skills required to effectively assess, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate training.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

Mandatory (M) vs. desired (D):

  • BA degree or 7+years of relevant work experience developing and delivering Sales training (M)
  • Experience managing a team of instructional designers, training, and development, and/or knowledge management teams. (M)
  • Experience developing and managing training strategy to support business operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is critical to effectively communicate with internal business partners (M)
  • Experience and passion for modern learning and coaching tools
  • Excellent presentation skills:  one-on-one, small, and large groups and with peers. Commands attention and can manage group process during the presentation; can change tactics midstream when something isn’t working. (M)
  • Ability and desire to mentor and coach others. (M)
  • Attention to detail is critical to effectively handle the technical aspects of the job. (M)
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the internal organization of Group Benefit Solutions. (D)
  • Prior insurance (ideally group disability, life, leave) industry experience. (M)
  • Excellent organizational skills. Capable of effectively and independently prioritizing multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure. (M)
  • Experience planning and project management skills. (D)
  • Knowledge and experience in instructional design including rapid development techniques and course development software. (M)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with many different personalities and styles. (M)
  • Demonstrated skill in change leadership, knowledge of change management best practices. (M)
  • Ability to influence others across internal and external stakeholders and all levels of the organizational hierarchy. (M)
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 15%) (M)

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $110,000-$130,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
