The Sr. Associate is responsible for supporting the Long-Term Care, individual disability income, and hybrid products by ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, contract requirements and internal policies and procedures.  This position will maintain and foster an environment that enhances and promotes operational and regulatory compliance.  Provides guidance to the business on day-to-day compliance issues, tracks and communicates regulatory changes and researches and interprets applicable laws and regulations.  Performs post departmental implementation reviews to determine compliance, coordinates operational changes and manages recovery efforts.  Identifies improvement opportunities and implements action plans to correct deficiencies and ensure ongoing compliance.  Cultivates and maintains strong positive working relationships with internal and external customers.  This position will also be responsible for assisting with other compliance matters such as records management, managing privacy issues and providing support for new product initiatives including form drafting, filing and testing.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Track and interpret federal and state regulatory changes, assess impact and communicate recommendations for compliance.  Perform post implementation reviews and draft corrective action plans.  Monitor and evaluate proposed regulations for potential impact to our products.
  • Collect data for state reporting.  Monitor changes in reporting requirements, maintain reporting spreadsheet and submit reports via SERFF or as required.
  • Assist with data calls and responses to market conduct inquiries.
  • Perform regulatory research and participate in industry meetings.
  • Work on multiple projects in support of department goals.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of compliance, regulatory monitoring, audit or similar experience.  Life/Health insurance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations governed by state departments of insurance.
  • Experience with DOI and MCAS reporting preferred.
  • Organized and detail oriented.  Ability to prioritize and multitask to meet established deadlines.  Flexibility to change assignments, priorities or goals.
  • Analytical skills to effectively identify potential compliance issues.
  • Excellent research, project management and practical problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong written and communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with SERFF preferred.
