Duties: Performs monthly reporting of lifetime value of new business (LTV) marketing margin, quarterly value of new business (VNB), LTV reporting, quarterly VNB and LTV outlook, and the annual plan for all new business profitability metrics.  Works closely with Marketing and Finance concerning sales planning and marketing cost deliverables, as well as annually refreshing thresholds for marketing spend decisions. Works closely with corporate business partners concerning VNB reporting requirements and meeting deliverables.  Owns and improves the LTV roll-forward process, makes Prophet changes, runs models, validates and anticipates model results, and makes process improvements leveraging VBA, PowerQuery, and SQL.  Performs attribution analysis of actual versus plan, and anticipates and identifies impacts based on observed shifts in sales strategy and changes in the economic environment. Identifies and anticipates whether results are reasonable by performing intuitive reasonability checks.  Calculates comfort margins to determine the weighted average cost of capital and pricing capital cushion used for VNB reporting.  Owns new business population development and sales mix inputs for Prophet.  Leads the LTV assumption setting process and collaborates with Marketing to determine customer program strategy and data trend reconciliation.  Performs LTV assumption setting, including querying and analyzing data, developing actuarial assumptions, back-testing assumptions against actuals, and using trends and actuarial judgment to recommend prospective assumptions.

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or Actuarial Science (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience as a Senior Actuarial Associate OR experience performing actuarial services for life insurance or annuity products.

 

Required Certifications & Skills:

  • Must possess Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification.

 

Experience must include 2 years in each of the following skills:

  1. Performing modeling of financial liabilities leveraging Prophet, updating inputs and assumptions, and validating model results;
  2. Modeling life insurance products and cash flows, manipulate large datasets leveraging SQL, Excel, and VBA programs, and performing actuarial analysis and visualizations;
  3. Analyzing data, developing actuarial assumptions, and performing actuarial calculations according to professional Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOP); and,
  4. Interfacing with Marketing, Finance, senior management, and corporate business partners to clarify technical actuarial topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
