Duties: Designs insurance products, features, and documents for technical specifications and memos leveraging actuarial standards and concepts.  Develops premiums and benefits for new and enhanced insurance products. Develops and enhances models to actuarially project and report profitability generated by insurance products.  Provides actuarial insight into deviations from past projections of financial performance. Prepares studies related to financial experience and support assumption development for insurance products. Quantifies company risk exposure and proposes ways to minimize risk. Monitors compliance with life insurance and long-term care insurance. Assists with regulatory filings of new and enhanced life insurance and long-term care insurance products.

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 3 years of experience performing actuarial services for life insurance or annuity products.

 

Required Special Skills/Certifications:

 

Must have ASA designation and working toward FSA designation in the Society of Actuaries (SoA) or recent FSA

 

Experience must include 1 year in each of the following skills:

 

  1. Performing actuarial calculations leveraging actuarial modeling packages such as Prophet, AXIS, RiskAgility or ProVal; programming languages such as SQL or R; and, spreadsheet or database software such as Excel, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming;

2)    Analyzing data, developing actuarial assumptions, and performing and validating actuarial calculations in accordance with professional Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOP);

 

3)    Performing actuarial pricing, actuarial liabilities modeling, analyzing statutory income statements, and performing financial results analysis;

 

4)   Leading and coaching junior personnel or interns through actuarial tasks and relevant projects; and,

 

5)   Clarifying technical actuarial topics for technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management, Valuation Actuaries, Legal, and Finance.
