New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.  


Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.


The Internal Business Development Consultant (IBDC) is responsible for achieving and exceeding the sales objectives of the assigned territory and General Offices. The IBDC will deliver sales concepts, product information and technical guidance to New York Life Agents to help drive sales within our Worksite and Employee Benefits Product Line. This position will be housed in White Plains and job functions will be completed predominantly via the phone and video conferencing. Responsibilities include:

•    Partner with external BDC to develop and implement strategies to increase sales within our Worksite and Employee Benefits product portfolio
•    Work closely with NYL agents to develop and maintain strong business relationships
•    Develop a strong command of NYL's products and sales processes
•    Provide sales support and product information primarily through proactive one-on-one phone conversations and with large groups via webinar and/or video conferences
•    Handle inbound sales calls for case design, product questions or other assistance during the sales process 


•    Bachelor's degree preferred
•    Life & Health licenses, Series 6 & 63 preferred
•    Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience
•    Fundamental knowledge of worksite and employee benefits product lines
•    In tune with industry standards and innovations
•    Ability to implement sales techniques and product knowledge to improve on efficiency, and drive sales in aligned territory



Salary range: $68,000-$68,000 64000 - 64000

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: Yes
